BALL Change Name To BLEED DEFEAT
September 5, 2003BALL, the Los Angeles-based band featuring former OZZY OSBOURNE/PRIDE AND GLORY and current BILLY IDOL drummer Brian Tichy on guitar/vocals, have changed their name to BLEED DEFEAT. "We switched some guys around and sent out a new CD with some new songs," Tichy writes on his web site. "We sent them to all kinds of interesting people. Through all this, we ended up getting new management and did a couple showcases for VERY powerful people at Capitol. Well, the powerful guy wanted to sign us, but the MOST POWERFUL MAN at Capitol chose to pass. He admitted not knowing how to handle a band that has the potential of selling at least 150,000,000 CD's in the first 6 months! Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but it was nice to get a buzz goin' on at Capitol. We are planning on showcasing some more when I get home. Mgmt. is shopping as we speak...
"So, BLEED DEFEAT is myself on gtr. and vox., Devin on bass, D.K. on drums and Mark Richard-Dannells on 'speed/texture guitar'," Brian continued. "And damn it sounds good when we all play together! And that, my friends, is still the sole reason why we are doing it! Devin and myself took some time to get some new songs together and get new people involved. We changed the name because we didn't want anyone to form an opinion based on the fact that they may have seen or heard us in the past."
In other news, Tichy has been writing material with former DREAM THEATER/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and current BILLY IDOL keyboardist Derek Sherinian for his next solo CD. In addition, Brian "may play drums on [Derek's] live record in December. So I'll have to start practicing my metal-fusion chops!" Tichy says. "It could be challenging and fun to go mental on some metal-fusion (Musion drumming? Fusetal?)"
